Tim Aldridge
Interview: Feb 2006

First things first.....
What are your current stat's (height / weight / feet)?
Currently 12.5 stone
6' 2"
Size 11 Feet

Have you been over-indulging during Christmas, partying or working out?
Not much over crimbo. I had a good new years eve though.
Just the usual really and as a result I didn't put on any weight at all.

What particular items of (HnM) kit are you using?
I am currently using a DragoRossi Mafia
It is just, shall we say, well awesome is the best way to describe it!

Do you have your eyes on any new toys?
I'm hoping to get my hands on a set of these Kober paddles that everyone else on the team is raving about. I'd also like to have a go in a DragoRossi Stinger or a Thruster very soon.

What techy kit are you using?
Nothing too expensive! I have an Olympus C770 Ultra zoom for stills and  Samsung DP 453 for video. I'm using a few different editing suites to cut and chop videos and adobe photo shop for the stills.

Playboating or river running?
Both have ups and downs! I love river running it is awesome. The feel of nailing a line or landing sweet on a drop or catching that last micro eddy gives me an immense rush but playboating is fun relaxing and I always love landing the vertical blunts and loops. I guess, if I had to pick one though, river running just wins for me.

Where do you hang out mostly these days and where do you paddle most of the time?
If its dry you're most likely to find me on the Treweryn or Mile-End Mill but if there is water I spend more time in north-mid Wales boating. If not I will probably be in the Lake District.

So how was 2005-6?
The best part has to be getting my sponsorship deal with HnM.
Then going on to win the liquid life 2005 jnr's event.
Traveling with my Mafia and paddling it in Austria was great fun.

Have you enjoyed being part of team HnM?
Yeah its totally awesome. Glenn and Jon are really easy to talk to and to get on with. They are top blokes! LOL

Learned any new moves / paddled any new rivers recently?
Bloomin 'eck!
Well I managed to do a loop in my Mafia. I had never done that in a creek boat before. I have done countless new rivers, sections or runs which has been great.

And what have you got planned for 2006-7?
Ooh that would be well telling but a far east expedition and a few more in between. Time and finances allowing ;o)

Would you encourage others to get involved as a sponsored paddler?
Is it hard work? What are the pitfalls?
Yeah definitely. It is a bit of hard work because every section of rivers I paddle I find myself getting out and filming and taking pictures and then my mates do the same for me. On the other hand it's great because you never forget sections of rivers that you've run and it's great to think that other people might get enjoyment from looking at the pictures that you've taken. I would recommend it to anyone.

Who's the best paddler on the HnM team?
Well I only actually have experience of paddling with Dan H but I've seen pictures and movie clips of  "D" and Darren K in action. What can I say? They're also great so from experience lil' Dan but I'm open to a competition between us all to determine who's best! ha ha ;-)

Any idea who on earth this Baciare Miocome is?
A lover or Italian hardcore and furry handcuffs apparently!

Are you sure?
Well google seems to say so.....

He's behind you! ;-)
Oh hey there "Bac". Come here, let me get my cuffs ;-)

Penultimate question: Who's the best looking (Jon or Glenn)???
LOL... Neither I'm afraid. My girlfriend Becky beats them all hands down. ha ha
Plus I'm not into men. Sorry guys! ;-)

Final question: Any last messages???
Yeah just a quick one. You don't get to where you're going without a hell of a lot of help from others. I just want to thank everyone who has helped me from the start of my kayaking career. Most of all my parents, Mark Burch, Dave Bradshaw, Alan Pashley, Leo Whore, the guys from High-N-Mighty and all guys at Brookbank. I could go on. There is an almost endless list of names to put up but I'd like to thank every one that has helped me through my ongoing career. You have all helped me and made me into what I am today without you all  I would be nothing thank you all so much :-)

Well, thanks for that lad. Keep up the good work and try to stay out of trouble! ;-)
