First things
first.....
What are your current stat's (height / weight / feet)?
Height: approximately 5'11
Weight: At a guess around 11stone, maybe a little more after Christmas
Foot size: 10
Have you been
over-indulging during Christmas, partying or working out?
Well I had 3 Christmas meals!
One at University, one at my parents and one at Stephanie's house, so I
guess you could say I 'over indulged!'
What particular
items of (HnM) kit are you using?
I use a Dragorossi Fish, Kober Control Platinums and Kober
Spirits.
Once I have sorted out my paddling style for the Fish and tidied up a
few of the lazy habits I have developed over the years I feel that my
boating is going to improve loads. I really like both sets of my Kobers
– the control Platinums have a small metal tip whch should stop them
fraying and wearing away when paddling at the sorts of concrete ditches
that I spend most of my time in.
What techy kit
are you using?
I do seem to have a lot of technology. I do like my gadgets.
For filming, I have a Sony DCR42HCE video camera and a high-end Acer
Ferrari 4000 laptop to edit the footage with.
Playboating or
river running?
My main interest is Playboating. This is because it is easier for
me,
where I am located, to get out and kayak.
Where do you hang out mostly
these days and where do you paddle most of the time?
Being a student means I have to think twice about expenditures.
Unfortunately, rent and food are a higher priority than boating . With
that said, I get out boating wherever and whenever I can.
So how was
2005-6?
Well, I went travelling around the world which was an amazing
experience and even though I did not take my kayak I had a brilliant
time. I guess it is hard for me to decide one moment of 2005 that was
best, I have to admit it was one of the best years of my life.
Have you enjoyed
being part of team HnM?
I always like playing with the latest toys, but what makes it better
is that I like using all the products that HnM import. The other guys on
the team are good fun, and we have a laugh. Glenn and Jon have given me
a lot of good support and I hope our relationship will continue and get
stronger.
Learned
any new moves / paddled any new rivers recently?
I paddled the mighty Woodmill Death Gorge and did a seal launch out
of a tree… Also I have done a bit more surfing this year, with varying
success. I went to Newquay and had three good days surfing, although the
second day I did start feeling out of my depth. I believe that paddling
Dragorossi boats has made me a better all around boater, I have hit the
biggest loops in the Fish and also improved my surfing no end.
And what have you
got planned for 2006-7?
My degree has to be my most important priority at the moment but I
want to do as much boating as possible. Also, I will be spending more
time on my business (Delimits),
in order to pay the bills.
Would you
encourage others to get involved as a sponsored paddler? Is it hard
work? What are the pitfalls?
I did an article about this a while back. I would only encourage someone to become sponsored if they want to
do be sponsored for the right reasons. Sponsorship is not a free ride.
There is a lot of give and take and you need to be committed. The
biggest pitfall is that almost everything that you do and say gets
connected to your sponsor. Get involved if you want to promote the
products, have something to offer the company and feel you will benefit
from the sponsorship. Most of all, have fun – I have seen a lot of
people start losing interest once they actually become sponsored!
Who's the best
paddler on the HnM team?
Baciare Miocome. Who else looks like a pro in their living
room/stair well? But seriously, I have a lot of respect for everyone on
the team, in particular the Double 2D guys, for both their river running
and C1 skills.
Any idea who on
earth this Baciare Miocome is?
Who?
Are you sure?
Err… yes!
He's behind you!
;-)
Stop sending people to spy on me!!!!
