Local Playspot |
Stanley embankment when I’m in Wales but there’s something to play on down every river.
|
Weapon(s) of Choice |
Squashtail for waves.
Stinger for holes and down river play. Critical mass for when it all gets a bit interesting. |

Favourite River |
There are loads, and to be honest I could be paddling
the dirt ditch from hell as long as I was out with my club.
It’s who you paddle with not where you paddle.
However if your ever in north Wales the Ogwen is always worth checking out ;-) |

Favourite Playspot |
It
depends what mood I’m in really, Nine times out of ten I’d much rather
just go surfing with my house mate.
Stanley embankment is always a good laugh though. |

Best Canoeing Experience |
Running chateau Q on the Durance.
|
Worst Canoeing Experience |
Seeing
my little sister going head under on her first grade 3 section. She got
caught under a tree and we had to pull her out… It was all a bit
terrifying. When something happens to me I don’t really register is as a problem until about a day after when I start to reflect on the “what if” factor |

Most Embarrassing Canoeing Experience |
Swimming on a really simple grade 3 section of the Durance last summer. I was having a good week and getting pretty cocky about it. The river gods quite rightly saw fit to show me the meaning of humility and promptly turned my boat upside down, snapped my paddles and crunched my shoulder into a hard jagged rocky thing. It shook me up a bit as I was feeling ever so slightly invincible… however the group I where paddling with where fantastic, really great guys, they soon had me calmed down and it all got put down to experience. The moral of the story is don’t get cocky and always paddle with friends ;-) |

Significant Results |
Winner of the best newcomer awards for canoe polo,
University colours for sport,
Other than that I don’t really compete I much prefer spending time on rivers. However I’m hoping to get a few more canoe polo games behind me this year. |

Try
a bit of everything…
Paddle sport is so vast and if you’re only sampling one part of it your never going to get the full experience. Pick your paddle partners well and always keep it fun! (and if your ever in north Wales look me up) |
